A Day on Board the USS Ronald Reagan

I was privileged to accompany a media contingent for a tour of operations on the nuclear powered, supercarrier USS Ronald Reagan. Our group sailed out of port at Pearl Harbor and voyaged 50 miles out to sea, south of Oahu to observe, photograph and record activities on board the aircraft carrier. We got to see the bridge, hangar operations, and walk the flight deck to see dozens of expensive, high tech aircraft and the people working on them. Most exciting was the end of the day flight deck operations where we were only a few feet away snapping pictures of various aircraft taking off and landing on the carrier. It's a noisy, intensive, dangerous and fast paced environment. Safety in always on mind and whoever is out there during flight operations have to be very disciplined and follow orders to a T.

It was an experience never to be forgotten. All photos were taken on July 6, 2010, most on board the USS Ronald Reagan. Read my full account of the day at HawaiiReporter.com.
