Last night, the Country Throwdown came to Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre (Sandstone) in Kansas City.  The lineup included a ton of people and a long day, but it was really worth it.

When you first got there, you couldn't even go to your seats.  You get sent out to a second stage to see some of the newest country acts which just made the day even better,

First up was Maggie Rose.  She formally went by Margaret Durante that sang the song "Maybe Tonight".  She is now doing new music...

Here is one of her new songs, "Preacher's Daughter"...

Next up is one of my favorite new artists, Florida Georgia Line.  If you don't have their new EP, go get it before you finish reading the rest of this...

One of the songs on the EP is "Tip It Back"...

One of their songs is being recorded by Jason Aldean, "Black Tears".  Would have liked to hear that one too...

Their newest single is "Cruise"....it is currently being played on Sirius XM and I hope it becomes a big summer hit...

Next up was Eric Paslay...I have seen him before and he is really great...

His current single is "If the Fish Don't Bite"...

Eric is a really successful songwriter.  He has songs on Lady A, Dierks Bentley and he also wrote Jake Owen's #1 hit "Barefoot Bluejean Night".  His current hit in writing is Eli Young Band's "Even if it Breaks Your Heart"...

Next up was Sunny Sweeney....she is not your typical country singer in a good way.

She is good at writing songs that have an edge to them with a little humor added in...Here is one of those "You Don't Know Your Husband Like I Do"...

She said she had just wrote this song about burning all her ex-husband's stuff in the back yard...it is called "Dirty Laundry"...

And then her song for the working man and woman, "Everyone Else Can Kiss My Ass"...

Next up, it was time to go down to the main stage.  First up there was Corey Smith...

I have seen Corey two other times and it is impressive how every set is so different.  I really like that, he even has completely new banter between the songs with not everyone has...

His biggest hit so far is "Twenty-One"...

Next up was Josh Thompson...I am not even sure how many times I have seen him.  He was of my favorite new artists and I just like all of his songs...

He is currently working on a new album.  He plays several of those during his set which makes me really look forward to them...

His current single is "Comin' Around"...

Next up was the final act...Gary Allan.  It seems like they had some serious problems setting up the stage...there was over an hour between sets which takes the air out of the place.

One of his first songs was "Watching Airplanes"...one of the best!

Gary has a different kind of country...it is kind of blues with the Bakersfield sound...it sounds really good put together..

He also has some good love songs, here is one, "Best I Ever Had"...

The women in the audience really loved him too.  They were screaming the whole time and trying to get him to shake their hands...

One of his best and most songs is "Life Ain't Always Beautiful"...it sounded so great.

Overall, it was a long day but such a great one.  I got to see so many artists and I really enjoyed every single one.  If the tour comes to your house, check it out.
